Cody Gakpo named as Eredivisie Player Of The Month for September
Cody Gakpo is the Eredivisie Player of the Month. The PSV forward performed best in September based on statistics and votes from football fans.
PSV experienced a false start at FC Twente early this month (2-1 loss), but shot their way to the top of the Eredivisie in duels with RKC Waalwijk (1-0) and Feyenoord (4-3). Gakpo was by far the most important man in the Eindhoven side, with no other PSV player featuring in the Eredivisie Team of the Month.
The nine-time Oranje international created 21 chances in September, at least nine more than any other eredivisie player. In addition, no player was directly involved in as many eredivisie goals as Gakpo (five - two goals and three assists), including all four goals in the match against Feyenoord. The forward also made 23 touches in the opposition box, at least nine more than any other PSV player. Gakpo was twice voted KPN Man of the Match by football fans in September.
This is the first Eredivisie Player of the Month award for the 23-year-old forward. Besides an award, Cody Gakpo is the first player with an Eredivisie Player of the Month card in FIFA 23. This card will be available from Tuesday in EA Sports' new game launched today.
