Together with the (former) Eredivisie clubs, Triple Double, Santos, FOX Sports (ESPN), and AD, we introduced the Eredivisie Shirt Festival on April 17, 2020. It was a tribute to 64 years of Eredivisie and all 1,754 shirts worn since its establishment in 1956. Through eredivisie.nl/esf, we asked football fans in the Netherlands to vote for the most beautiful shirt ever.

Football fans made their voices heard massively in three weeks, resulting in 686,858 likes, 211,000 visitors, and 162,264 votes. The festival also became a topic of conversation in various media outlets.

A panel of experts, consisting of Jan Joost van Gangelen (ESPN), Frank Evenblij (Bureau Sport), Arno Kantelberg (Esquire), Sjoerd Mossou (AD), and Victoria Koblenko (actress/presenter), spent two hours discussing their favorites and ultimately chose one winner: the Willem II home shirt from 1954 to 1966. This way, a prize was still awarded during a period when football enthusiasts unfortunately had to do without Eredivisie matches.
