Daishawn Redan has been chosen as the Johan Cruijff Talent of the Month for February, based on individual player statistics and votes from football fans. It is the first talent award for both the 21-year-old from Amsterdam and PEC Zwolle.
In February, the team from Zwolle won against SC Cambuur (3-4), played two draws against N.E.C. and FC Groningen (both 1-1) and lost to Heracles Almelo (2-0).
Redan was directly involved in four goals in February in the form of two goals and two assists. All six of his shots were also on target, he created seven chances from open play and noted thirteen ball touches in the opponents' penalty area.
His performance against SC Cambuur stood out in particular: Redan became the third player to provide two assists in the first six minutes of a game this century, following Barry van Galen in 2003 (three) and Sam Larsson in 2017 (also two).
Cheques for ASV De Dijk and Johan Cruyff Foundation
Besides the monthly award, the PEC Zwolle forward also received two cheques on behalf of the VriendenLoterij. One cheque is for €2,500 for the Amsterdam amateur club ASV de Dijk, which is the club where Redan briefly played as a youth and another for € 5,000 went to a project of the Johan Cruyff Foundation. This money is used to purchase sports equipment for children with physical disabilities in the Zwolle area.
