Dutch professional football calls for action on disaster in Turkey and Syria

Three days after the catastrophic disaster in Turkey and Syria, the impact is still being felt strongly. While rescue workers search for survivors, the call for help is growing. That is why the Eredivisie, the Keuken Kampioen Divisie, the Azerion Women's Eredivisie and the KNVB, in collaboration with all clubs and players, are initiating a joint action calling for donations to Giro555.

The earthquake has already caused more than 20.000 deaths. Many people, due to danger of collapse, are stuck unprotected in the freezing cold. Resources such as medical care, food and clean drinking water are needed immediately. Reason for Giro555 and Dutch professional football to come into action for all the victims. Partly due to the large number of active Turkish players and football fans with Turkish and Syrian roots, Dutch professional football has decided to use its platform this weekend to raise awareness for Giro555.

Activities

This weekend will be dedicated to supporting the victims in Turkey and Syria. For example, before kick-off of all matches in the Eredivisie, Keuken Kampioen Divisie and Azerion Women's Eredivisie, a minute of silence will be held in memory of all the victims. At the same time, an appeal to support Giro555 will appear on the boarding, on all stadium screens and through announcement by the stadium speakers. Also, a video message will be released in which players from the three leagues make a request for help to fans.
