Xavi Simons named as Eredivisie Player of the Month for March

The 19-year-old midfielder/forward has become one of the Eredivisie playmakers in the past six months. After winning the award for best Eredivisie player in his first month in August, Simons also leaves all competitors behind in the monthly contest in March.

PSV won the last three rounds against RKC Waalwijk (0-1) and SC Cambuur (5-2) and played to a draw in Arnhem (1-1). Despite the widening gap with leader Feyenoord (+2 points), Simons can look back on an excellent month personally. The Oranje international netted two goals and one assist in the last three rounds of play. He also made 17 successful dribbles (at least four more than any other Eredivisie player) and won the most personal duels (32). It earned Xavi Simons the honour of KPN Man of the Match in all three matches.

Simons' name tops a number of statistic lists. The joint top scorer in the Eredivisie (13 goals) this season is therefore the PSV player, with the most shots on target (30), dribbles (96), successful dribbles (57), duels won (186) and blocked shots (21). Simons is also the fastest player compared to his teammates so far (33.44 km/h average). He ran the most kilometres (268 km), played the most minutes (2,157), and was the only PSV player to start all 26 matches in the starting line-up.

It is also the second time that Xavi Simons has been selected as Eredivisie Player of the Month. Besides a trophy, the 19-year-old international will receive an Eredivisie Player of the Month card in the game FIFA 23.
