Van Ginkel hits a double as PSV Eindhoven beat VVV-Venlo

PSV Eindhoven beat 10-man VVV-Venlo in the Eredivisie on Saturday with a Marco van Ginkel's brace and another goal from Hirving Lozano.

PSV Eindhoven went 10 points clear of Ajax at the top of the Dutch Eredivisie thanks to a 3-0 victory over VVV-Venlo. The hero of the night for Philip Cocu's side was Marco van Ginkel with a brace, while Hirving Lozano added the third goal.

But it was far from easy for the Dutch leaders. In a lacklustre first half, the only real chance for both sides was a Luuk de Jong header in the 40th minute which was brilliantly saved by Lars Unnerstall.

The key moment of the match came in the 58th minute, when Ralf Seuntjens was sent off for a second yellow card after a foul on Jorrit Hendrix. A few minutes later, Daniel Schwabb hit the crossbar with a header from a corner.

And in the 68th minute, Marco van Ginkel finally found the net for the home team. The PSV number 10 was lucky on a ricochet and beat Unnerstall with a header from inside the six-yard box.

From then on, VVV-Venlo collapsed. In the 80th minute, Hirving Lozano converted the easiest of opportunities from a Steven Bergwijn's from the left. Three minutes later, Nils Roseler foul on Luuk de Jong inside the box was punished by referee Serdar Gozubuyuk with a penalty that Marco van Ginkel converted.
