The Stands of... Sparta Rotterdam

The supporters and the stadiums add color to the Eredivisie. For many fans, the stadium has become a second home. Whether the sun is shining or it's raining, in good and bad times, hundreds of thousands of supporters gather on the stands every week to cheer for their favorite club. Along with the clubs, players, and staff, they are all part of Our Football. This season, we are taking a tour of the eighteen fields with some photographers. This week, we kick off with The Stands of... Sparta Rotterdam!

The Rotterdam-based club was founded in 1888 and is the oldest club in professional football in the Netherlands. With over 130 years of tradition, it's a club where warmth, history, and sympathy prevail. At the same time, the club is also modern and socially engaged. Sparta Rotterdam has played over 1,930 matches in the Eredivisie and does so (bi)weekly in the iconic Sparta Stadium 'Het Kasteel.' Every match, over 11,000 Spartans cheer for their favorite club from the stands at Het Kasteel.

Below, you'll find a selection of some stadium and culture photos from the stands. These photos were taken by photographer Jordy Brada during the match between Sparta Rotterdam and Vitesse on September 24.
