PSV claim a 2-0 routine win over NAC Breda

PSV claimed a 2-0 routine win over Eredivisie basement boys NAC Breda in the Philips Stadion on Saturday night, courtesy of goals from Luuk de Jong on five minutes and a 71st-minute strike by substitute Donyell Malen.

Mark van Bommel’s men started the game well, playing a high line and made the breakthrough after barely five minutes. Cody Gakpo whipped in a low cross from the left wing and captain Luuk de Jong slotted home a first-time shot from close range at the near post: 1-0. It was his 21st goal of the season.

Van Bommel made a double substitution on 67 minutes, with Michal Sadilek and Donyell Malen coming on for Hendrix and Gakpo. It paid dividends as Malen doubled PSV’s lead four minutes later. He was at the end of a well-worked move, set up by Denzel Dumfries, taking his tally for the season to six: 2-0. It was PSV's twelfth goal of the season scored by a substitute.

PSV are five points clear at the top of the Eredivisie table but Ajax have one game in hand.
