Orkun Kökcü Player of the Month for the second month in a row
Orkun Kökcü has been named Eredivisie Player of the Month for the second month running. As in January, the 21-year-old Feyenoord midfielder was the best performer in February according to statistics and football fans' votes.
Directly involved in five goals
In a month where only AZ did not lose a point, Kökcü's Feyenoord side won against Sparta Rotterdam (4-0), RKC Waalwijk (0-2) and SC Cambuur (3-1). But last Sunday, it went wrong in Alkmaar of all places as AZ won 2-1 against Feyenoord. Kökcü can nevertheless look back on an excellent month as the Turkish international scored in three games in a row and provided two assists.
He also sent 129 forward passes in the last four rounds of play, which is more than any other midfielder or forward. Kökcü also created the second-most chances in the Eredivisie (18) and recorded ten successful crosses. This earned the midfielder the honour of being named KPN Man of the Match twice.
Second monthly award in a row
The Feyenoord controlling midfielder is the second player after Oussama Idrissi to win the monthly award twice in a row (January and February 2020). Kökcü has demonstrated his attacking qualities particularly in the new calendar year: in six Eredivisie matches in 2022 he was directly involved in seven goals (five goals and two assists), which equals his eighteen league matches in the first half of the season (one goal and six assists).
The midfielder managed to keep Fortuna Sittard goalkeeper Yanick van Osch and Ajax forward Sébastien Haller behind him. In addition to a prize, the midfielder will also receive his own upgraded player card in EA Sports FIFA 22 Ultimate Team. The Eredivisie Player of the Month card will be free to play in FIFA 22 from 18:00 on Friday night.

The Eredivisie Player of the Month and Johan Cruijff Talent of the Month Awards are based on statistics (StatsPerform) and votes from football fans, cast via the KPN Man of the Match vote (ESPN). These elements also count towards the Eredivisie Player of the Year and Johan Cruijfff Talent of the Year Awards, which are presented in a live broadcast on ESPN at the end of the season 2021/22.
