Mimoun Mahi was on target in Groningen's 4-1 loss to Heracles in Sunday's Dutch Eredivisie game at Polman Stadion.
The 24-year-old in his sixth league appearance for the Green-White Army scored his first goal of the season with his curtain raiser in the 14th minute.
However, the hosts rallied back with Adrian Dalmau levelling for the side in the 25th minute before completing his brace in the 46th minute.
Brandley Kuwas increased the lead two minutes before stoppage time and rounded off the rout with his second goal at the death.
With the defeat, Groningen are now rooted to the bottom of the league log with four points after seven losses in nine games.
Mahi who featured for the entire duration of the contest will hope to help his side avoid a third consecutive loss when they host PSV in their next league game on Friday, October 27.
