Guus Til the first Player of the Month in FIFA 22
Starting this season, the Eredivisie Player of the Month will also be honoured monthly in the game FIFA 22, for which the Eredivisie CV has joined forces with game developer EA Sports. Guus Til is the first Eredivisie player to have a special card in FIFA 22 Ultimate Team. The Eredivisie is the first league after the five big leagues to have its own Player of the Month card in the game.
Guus Til first Eredivisie Player of the Month in FIFA
In March, the Feyenoord midfielder was the best-performing player according to statistics and football fans’ votes. In his last three matches, six of his seven shots were on target, he scored two matches in a row and – with one match less than the other clubs – scored the most goals of the month (four goals). It gives the current top scorer in the Eredivisie, in addition to an Eredivisie Player of the Month Award, his first award in FIFA 22.
Guus Til is the first Eredivisie player to ever received an Eredivisie Player of the Month card in FIFA 22 Ultimate Team. In this popular section of the game, FIFA players can create their own dream team by playing matches online, completing challenges and trading in player cards, among other things.
Second-best Eredivisie player in FIFA 22
Guus Til's player card has increased significantly in value: his overall rating has risen by +10 points from 72 to 82. This makes him the second-best Eredivisie player in the game. To get Guus Til's special Eredivisie Player of the Month card, players must complete a number of tasks in the so-called Squad Building Challenges.
It remains to be seen how long Guus Til will remain in the top three best Eredivisie players in FIFA 22, as all subsequent winners of the Eredivisie Player of the Month ranking will also receive a special card in the game. The Eredivisie is the sixth league with Player of the Month cards in the game; the English Premier League, Spanish La Liga Santander, German Bundesliga, French Ligue 1 Uber Eats and the Italian Serie A preceded the Dutch league.
Years of cooperation
Last Friday saw the official release of FIFA 22, the 29th edition of EA Sports' popular football game. The Eredivisie, with its 18 Eredivisie clubs, has been represented in the game annually since 1994, starting with the first edition to feature club football (FIFA Soccer 95). In recent years, the cooperation between the Eredivisie and EA Sports has increased, including the launch of the KPN eDivisie, the official Esports competition with the 18 Eredivisie clubs.
Eredivisie Player of the Month election
The Eredivisie Player of the Month election is an initiative of the Eredivisie CV in collaboration with ESPN and KPN. Apart from the best player, the best player under 21 also receives an award: the Johan Cruijff Talent of the Month. This award was extended in August through cooperation with the Johan Cruyff Foundation and VriendenLoterij. In addition to the award, the talent receives a cheque to donate to his club foundation or amateur club and a cheque to donate to one of the Johan Cruyff Foundation's projects.
