GIOVANNI BAKHUIJSEN (ALMERE CITY FC) WINS KPN EDIVISIE FINALS IN THE RIJKSMUSEUM

On Saturday, April 19, Giovanni Bakhuijsen of Almere City FC clinched the KPN eDivisie title after a thrilling final against Chris de Boer from AZ Alkmaar. This marked the first time the final was held in the Rijksmuseum's Gallery of Honour, under the watchful eyes of Dutch Masters. Bakhuijsen secured €20,000 in prize money and a spot in the FC Pro World Championship.​

The day began with quarterfinals at the KNVB Campus in Zeist. Players from AFC Ajax, Almere City, AZ Alkmaar, and FC Twente advanced to the semifinals, which took place later that day in Amsterdam's Rijksmuseum. While Bakhuijsen emerged as the champion, runner-up Chris de Boer also qualified for the FC Pro World Championship. Additionally, Brent Weerink (FC Twente) and Levi de Weerd (AFC Ajax) earned spots in the eChampions League.

Talent, goal and player of the year

In addition to the final match, several important awards were presented. Sven Kamphof (NAC Breda) was named Talent of the Year. Ali Riza Aygün (PSV) received multiple honors, winning both the Goal of the Year award and the prestigious Appreciation Award. Levi de Weerd (AFC Ajax) was eliminated in the semi-finals but still went home with the Player of the Year award.
