Who will be Eredivisie Player of the Year? Nominees for the Eredivisie Awards 2024/’25 announced
With the Eredivisie season nearing its thrilling finale, the title race remains wide open. As the tension builds on the pitch, it’s also time to honour the standout players of the season. Today, we proudly present the five nominees for the prestigious Eredivisie Player of the Year 2024/’25 award.
Davy Klaassen (Ajax), Igor Paixão (Feyenoord), Ismael Saibari (PSV), Sem Steijn (FC Twente), and Kenneth Taylor (Ajax) are in the running for the top individual honour. The nominees were selected based on Opta data and KPN Man of the Match awards. The final vote rests with the captains of the 18 Eredivisie clubs.
In the Azerion Women’s Eredivisie, five players are also competing for the title of Player of the Year, chosen through the same statistical process. The 12 team captains will cast the deciding votes.
Eredivisie Awards Ceremony on 26 May
The winners will be announced on Monday 26 May during the Eredivisie Awards — a festive live show held at DeFabrique in Utrecht. The event will be broadcast live on ESPN at 20:30, hosted by Fresia Cousiño Arias and Milan van Dongen.

Alongside Player of the Year, several other awards will be presented, including:
- Johan Cruyff Talent of the Year (men & women) — nominees revealed on Tuesday 13 May
- Willy van der Kuijlen Trophy (Eredivisie Top Scorer)
- Top Scorer of the Year (Azerion Women’s Eredivisie)
- Goal of the Year
Voetbal Geeft Prijs: Celebrating Social Impact
The evening will also feature the presentation of the Voetbal Geeft Prijs, an initiative by the VriendenLoterij, Eredivisie CV, and ESPN. This award recognises impactful community projects by Eredivisie clubs. The 2024 nominees are Heracles Almelo, Feyenoord, and FC Groningen.
About the Eredivisie Awards
The Eredivisie Awards are organised by Eredivisie CV, Azerion Women’s Eredivisie, and ESPN, in collaboration with partners VriendenLoterij, KPN, and the Johan Cruyff Foundation. The Player of the Year awards are decided by club captains, with support from players’ union VVCS, while the Johan Cruyff Talent of the Year is selected in cooperation with Coaches Betaald Voetbal and national team coaches.
