Adrie, a 71-year-old volunteer who has been the heart and soul of NAC Breda for 30 years, continues to play a vital role within the club despite his Alzheimer's diagnosis. He actively participates in the Football Memories project, where older fans reminisce about football and support one another. Recently, Adrie was honoured in a heartwarming tribute by players, supporters, and his childhood hero, John Karelse.
Before the match, Adrie was surprised by players Jan van den Bergh, Clint Leemans, and his childhood hero, John Karelse. His photograph was given a place of honour on the legends wall in the Rat Verlegh Stadium. As the crowning moment, Adrie walked a lap of honour around the pitch, accompanied by thunderous applause and a special banner from the supporters. It was an unforgettable moment for a man who embodies the spirit of NAC.
"Football has a unique way of bringing people together. For us, we're out on the pitch every day, so we're in a bit of a bubble. But what is just a small effort for me can mean the world to someone else. That’s why I find it so special to do things like this," Clint Leemans remarked.
