Troy Parrott has been named Eredivisie Player of the Month for December

Wouter Goes and Troy Parrott played pivotal roles in AZ's dominant form during December. The team remained unbeaten throughout the month, with their performances standing out both individually and collectively. Their contributions not only helped AZ secure crucial points but also earned them personal accolades in the Eredivisie monthly awards.

Troy Parrott scored for the first time in three consecutive Eredivisie matches in December. All three of his shots on target were goals, while his Expected Goals (xG) value was only one goal (1.0 xG). Additionally, Parrott scored his last two goals with his head — his first header goals in the Eredivisie, after previously scoring 18 times with his feet for AZ and Excelsior Rotterdam. In December, Parrott recorded twelve touches inside the opponent's penalty area and was named KPN Man of the Match by football fans in all three of his appearances.

For Troy Parrott, this is his first selection as Eredivisie Player of the Month. It is the eighth time the award has gone to an AZ player. The Irish international succeeds Vangelis Pavlidis, who won the award as an AZ player in October 2023. In the monthly selection, Parrott managed to outperform players such as Oskar Zawada (RKC), Ringo Meerveld (Willem II), and Noa Lang (PSV).

These criteria also factor into the selection of the Eredivisie Player of the Year and Johan Cruyff Talent of the Year awards, which are presented at the end of the season during the Eredivisie Awards.
