The Eredivisie CV supports the complaint against FIFA regarding the international match calendar

The Eredivisie CV supports the complaint submitted today to the European Commission by FIFPRO Europe, European Leagues, and LaLiga against FIFA, concerning the imposition of the international match calendar, including the FIFA Club World Cup 2025.

The complaint highlights that FIFA, in its dual role as both organiser and governing body, is violating European competition rules. The overcrowded international calendar jeopardises the health and safety of players and threatens the economic and social stability of national leagues, including the Eredivisie, which have been beloved by fans for generations.

The Eredivisie CV shares concerns about the lack of input from players and leagues in decisions that significantly impact the national and international football structure. This legal action is crucial to safeguard the interests of European football, players, and fans.

Jan de Jong, director of the Eredivisie CV, stated: "FIFA's statutes stipulate that they must consult in advance when developing match calendars and take into account the interests of clubs and leagues. Neither of these is happening at the moment."
