The domestic highlights of the Eredivisie will continue to be broadcast by NOS and the public broadcaster for the next two years. The partnership with Eredivisie Media & Marketing (EMM) has been extended until the 2026/2027 season and covers both the Eredivisie and the Azerion Women’s Eredivisie.
This means that the highlights of the Eredivisie can be followed in the same familiar way on the public broadcaster through NOS: both on television and via NPO Start, NOS.nl, and the NOS app. The same applies to live coverage on NPO Radio 1 during NOS Langs de Lijn. Additionally, NOS retains the ability to broadcast the highlights and key moments of the Eredivisie online and on social media.
'Good news for all Dutch football fans'
"This is great news for all football fans in the Netherlands," says Geert Hofman, business director at NOS and involved in the negotiations. "Eredivisie football on NOS brings millions of people together every week and has become an integral part of Dutch culture. We see it as our public duty to keep the highlights of the country's most important football competition open and accessible to everyone."
"Retaining these rights is also crucial for the public broadcaster," Hofman continues. "The Eredivisie programs reach a broad and diverse audience. By offering the footage on multiple platforms, we support the public broadcaster's digital transition. This is vital to stay accessible and relevant in the future."
Frank Rutten, Eredivisie Media & Marketing: "At Eredivisie Media & Marketing, our mission is to make Dutch football accessible to as wide an audience as possible. We do this by broadcasting the most important Dutch football competitions live on our own ESPN channels, as well as by collaborating with valued partners like NOS."
"The Eredivisie and NOS share a long history, and we are excited to add a new chapter to that over the next two years. Together, we will continue to make Dutch club football widely and easily available to the millions of football fans in our country."
A Long History
The Eredivisie and NOS share a long history. On April 5, 1959, the first broadcast of Sport in Beeld aired, the predecessor to NOS Studio Sport. Since then, entire generations have sat "with the plate on their lap" every Sunday, watching the Eredivisie highlights on television.
The Studio Sport Eredivisie broadcasts consistently attract a wide audience of over 2.8 million viewers, with a market share of 31.2%. The Sunday evening edition at 19:00 is the most popular, with an average of 1.4 million viewers. At that time, more than a third of television viewers in the Netherlands tune in to the program (market share 35.9%).
The Eredivisie highlights also achieve impressive numbers online through NPO Start, NOS.nl, the NOS app, and NOS's social media channels.
