On Monday, 26 May, the Eredivisie Awards 2024/’25 were presented during a live event at DeFabrique in Utrecht. In a special broadcast on ESPN, the top players, rising talents, and community initiatives from the Eredivisie and Azerion Women’s Eredivisie were honoured for their achievements this past season.
2024/’25 Winners
- Eredivisie Player of the Year: Sem Steijn (FC Twente)
Steijn was one of the Eredivisie’s standout performers this season and was chosen by the captains of all 18 clubs. The midfielder led the league in goals (24), shots on target (46) and was voted KPN Man of the Match an impressive 10 times by fans.
- Willy van der Kuijlen Trophy (Eredivisie Top Scorer): Sem Steijn (FC Twente), 24 goals
Steijn scored 18 goals with his right foot, 2 with his left, and 4 with his head. He’s the first midfielder since Jari Litmanen (1993/’94) to score over 20 goals in a single Eredivisie season, and only the second player after Luuk de Jong (2023/’24) to win both the top scorer and Player of the Year awards in the same year.
- Azerion Women’s Eredivisie Player of the Year: Renate Jansen (PSV)
The experienced forward impressed with her leadership and consistency. She was voted Player of the Year by the captains of the 12 clubs in the Azerion Women’s Eredivisie.
- Azerion Women’s Eredivisie Top Scorer: Jaimy Ravensbergen (FC Twente), 23 goals
The FC Twente striker finished the season as top scorer, including a hat-trick against AZ on the final matchday.
- Johan Cruyff Talent of the Year (Men): Jorrel Hato (Ajax)
At just 19 years old, Hato became a key figure in Ajax’s defence. His season stats were impressive: 36 successful tackles, 90% passing accuracy, 2 goals, and 6 assists. In recognition, a Cruyff Court will be built and named after him, giving more children the opportunity to play and develop their talents.
- Johan Cruyff Talent of the Year (Women): Veerle Buurman (PSV)
The 19-year-old on loan from Chelsea had a breakout season with PSV. She was voted Talent of the Year by the 12 head coaches in the women’s league and national team coach Andries Jonker. A Cruyff Court will also be established in her name.
- Goal of the Year: Bryan Linssen (N.E.C. Nijmegen)
Fans voted Bryan Linssen’s stunning long-range strike as Goal of the Year. He scored from his own half during N.E.C.’s home match against NAC Breda on 14 May 2025. The goal made it 3–0 and went viral both nationally and internationally.

Heracles Almelo Wins ‘Voetbal Geeft Prijs’ for Mental Health Project
Heracles Almelo has won the Voetbal Geeft Prijs for its social initiative “Kleedkamersessies” and receives €50,000 from the VriendenLoterij. The award is presented annually at the Eredivisie Awards to the club with the most innovative and impactful community project.
With Kleedkamersessies (“Changing Room Sessions”), Heracles literally opens its doors to honest and open conversations about mental health. Feyenoord and FC Groningen took second and third place, receiving €30,000 and €20,000 respectively.
