SC Cambuur have secured a return to the Eredivisie after three seasons in the second tier. After missing their first opportunity for promotion against Jong AZ last week, Henk de Jong’s side convincingly sealed their ticket in the rescheduled fixture against FC Emmen. Cambuur follow ADO Den Haag up to the top flight of Dutch football.

It marks SC Cambuur’s fifth promotion to the highest level and their third this century, following title-winning campaigns in 2013 and 2021. On both of those occasions Henk de Jong was in charge, and once again he leads the club back to the Eredivisie. With this being Cambuur's tenth Eredivisie season in total, it marks a milestone edition. After each of the previous two promotions the club retained their top-flight status. Doing so again in 2026/27 will be the first order of business.

The foundations for promotion were laid at the Kooi Stadion, where SC Cambuur were exceptionally strong at home this season. The team collected 40 of a possible 51 home points and only suffered their first defeat in their seventeenth home match, against Jong AZ. No other club remained unbeaten in their own stadium for as long.
That consistency came with striking efficiency. Cambuur averaged 14.7 shots per match, but set themselves apart with their finishing. A conversion rate of 14.4 percent, producing 70 goals from 486 attempts, made them the most clinical side in the second division.
