Champions PSV Eindhoven scored an 85th minute equaliser to salvage a 3-3 draw against mid-table ADO Den Haag in the Dutch Eredivisie on Sunday (29th April).
The main prize may have been won, but Phillip Cocu's men, who started the day with an eight-point lead over Ajax, are keen to maximise their league supremacy.
Meanwhile ADO Den Haag, starting Sunday in ninth spot, were aiming for a positive result at home to help best their 11th-place finish last season.
But PSV looked in an ominous mood, opening the scoring with just 11 minutes on the clock. Hirving Lorenzo nodded in Gaston Pereiro's lofted cross before colliding with the post.
By the time the pain in Lorenzo's bruised rib started to wear off, ADO Den Haag were level. Former Heart of Midlothian player Bjorn Johnsen volleyed home from a Lex Immers knock down in the 16th minute.
Johnsen was a thorn in the away team's side 10 minute later, with Nicolas Isimat-Mirin penalised for a clumsy push in the box on the Norwegian. Abdenasser El Khayati converted the penalty for a 2-1 edge at half-time.
First goal provider Pereiro turned scorer just before the hour mark, heading in from Daniel Schwaab's corner. Pereiro completely unmarked.
But Alfons Groenendijk's team had their noses back in front again in the 72nd minute - Johnsen on target again after an initial shot was palmed back into his path by PSV 'keeper Eloy room.
A raucosu home crowd at the Cars Jeans Stadion call almost taste a famour victory over the league champions, but that expectation was banished with five minutes to go.
A miscued clearance in the boc from Tom Beugelsdij sent the ball to Pereiro's feet and the Uruguayan was quick to punishing it - slamming the ball into the far corner for the third and final equaliser of the day.
The entertaining 3-3 draw sees PSV's lead at the top cut from eight to six points after Ajax defeated AZ Alkmaar 3-0 on Sunday. ADO Den Haag remain ninth.
