Paxten Aaronson has been named Johan Cruyff Talent of the Month for the first time
Paxten Aaronson has won his first monthly award in the Eredivisie. The now 21-year-old midfielder from FC Utrecht performed the best of all players under the age of 21 since the start of the season. Aaronson succeeds his teammate Oscar Fraulo, who was named the best talent in October.
The American midfielder began his professional career in MLS with Philadelphia Union, before making the move to Eintracht Frankfurt in 2023. After a loan spell at Vitesse, Aaronson has been playing for FC Utrecht on loan this season.
All-rounder
The midfielder made the most tackles last month (23), nearly half of which were successful (11). In addition, Aaronson won the second-most duels (46), had the most ball recoveries (31), and made a significant impact offensively with two goals and one assist. Thanks in part to his strong performances, FC Utrecht secured wins in November against Sparta Rotterdam (1-4), Heracles Almelo (1-0), and N.E.C. Nijmegen (1-2), with their only loss coming against PSV (2-5). In the victory over Heracles, Aaronson was named KPN Man of the Match.
The award was presented by ESPN presenter Aletha Leidelmeijer.
Cheques for foundations
As part of the award, the Johan Cruyff Talent of the Month receives a cheque for €2,500 for the FC Utrecht Foundation, the CSR foundation of the Utrecht-based club, on behalf of the VriendenLoterij. Additionally, a sum of €5,000 will be donated to the Johan Cruyff Foundation to support social projects. Paxten Aaronson is the second consecutive player from FC Utrecht to be named Johan Cruijff Talent of the Month. His teammate Oscar Fraulo won the award for best talent in October.

The selection of Eredivisie Player of the Month, Johan Cruijff Talent of the Month, and Eredivisie Team of the Month is based on Opta statistics and votes from football fans (KPN Man of the Match). These criteria are also considered in the voting for Eredivisie Player of the Year and Johan Cruijff Talent of the Year. These awards are presented at the end of the season during the Eredivisie Awards. The monthly elections are an initiative of Eredivisie CV in collaboration with ESPN, the Johan Cruijff Foundation, and VriendenLoterij.
