Clubs in the Eredivisie will continue to play with Derbystar match balls in the upcoming seasons. Eredivisie CV and Deventrade have extended their partnership, ensuring that Derbystar remains the official match ball partner for the years ahead.
Deventrade, the official distributor of Derbystar, has been supplying match balls to the Eredivisie for over twenty years. Since the 2017/18 season, the collaboration between the Deventer-based company and the Eredivisie has intensified, with the ball's design each season centered around a new theme. Artists and institutions such as Henk Schiffmacher, the Rijksmuseum, and Barry Pirovano have all contributed to its distinctive look over the years.
Jan de Jong, CEO of Eredivisie CV, is pleased with the renewed partnership: “Derbystar consistently delivers a match ball every season that meets the highest standards and brings joy to players at the top level. That’s a rarity. On top of that, the Eredivisie gets the opportunity each year to enrich the design of the ball with a unique theme, making it truly one-of-a-kind.”
Bart Stomphorst, CEO of Deventrade, adds: “We are proud of our long-standing partnership with the Eredivisie and the fact that Derbystar will remain the official match ball for the years to come. Derbystar balls are known for their quality and innovation. We’re committed to continuing to provide the best playing experience for every player. The themed designs make each season’s ball extra special and emphasize the unique identity and collaboration between the Eredivisie and Derbystar.”
As of July 1st, the highest tier of Dutch football will be officially named the VriendenLoterij Eredivisie, with VriendenLoterij becoming the league’s title sponsor. In addition to the Eredivisie, Derbystar match balls are also used in the German Bundesliga and the Keuken Kampioen Divisie.
