Moment of silence will be observed in memory of Kees Rijvers

Before the start of all matches in the upcoming round of Eredivisie, Keuken Kampioen Divisie (First Division), and Azerion Women's Eredivisie, a minute of silence will be observed in memory of Kees Rijvers. This decision was made by the professional football league board (KNVB, Eredivisie, and Keuken Kampioen Divisie).

Rijvers passed away on Monday, March 4th, at the age of 97. The Brabant-born player represented NAC Breda and Feyenoord in the Netherlands. Between 1946 and 1960, Rijvers earned 33 caps for the Dutch national team, scoring ten goals.

In the Netherlands, Rijvers served as head coach for FC Twente and PSV, leading them to three league titles and a UEFA Cup victory. Between 1981 and 1984, he also served as the head coach of the Dutch national team.

In 2023, Rijvers was honored as a "bondsridder" of the KNVB (Knight of the Dutch Football Association) for his significant contributions to Dutch football.
