Mika Godts has been one of Ajax’s standout performers this season. The 20-year-old Belgian, now in his fourth season with the club, has become a regular starter and his excellent form in November has earned him his first individual honour in the Eredivisie: the Johan Cruyff Talent of the Month award.
3 goals and 1 assist
Ajax endured a mixed month in November, drawing with sc Heerenveen (1-1) and losing to both FC Utrecht (2-1) and Excelsior Rotterdam (1-2). Last Tuesday, the Amsterdammers finally claimed their first win since 26 October, finishing the suspended match against FC Groningen with a 2-0 victory in an empty Johan Cruyff ArenA.
Mika Godts found the net against sc Heerenveen, FC Utrecht and FC Groningen — three goals in total — and provided the assist for Kasper Dolberg’s strike versus Excelsior. In all competitions this season, the Belgian has already been directly involved in eleven goals (six goals and five assists).
Godts also created ten chances from open play in November, the fourth-highest tally in the league. And he can rightly be called the division’s dribbling king: thirteen successful take-ons, more than any other player in the Eredivisie.

First monthly award
For Mika Godts, this marks his first-ever selection as Johan Cruyff Talent of the Month. As part of the award, the Johan Cruijff Talent of the Month receives a €2,500 cheque on behalf of the VriendenLoterij (Friends Lottery) for the Ajax Foundation. In addition, his accolade generates a €5,000 contribution to the Johan Cruyff Foundation to support social-impact projects.

The award was presented by ESPN reporter Hans Kraay Jr.
