Miguel Rodríguez has been named Eredivisie Player of the Month for April. The 21-year-old FC Utrecht midfielder stood out based on Opta statistics and votes from football fans.
Involved in Five Goals
Miguel Rodríguez enjoyed an outstanding month with FC Utrecht. Following a draw against Go Ahead Eagles (2-2) and convincing wins over FC Groningen (3-1), Ajax (4-0), and RKC Waalwijk (0-4), FC Utrecht secured European football for the first time in six years. Rodríguez played a direct role in at least one goal in each of his four league appearances in April.
With four goals and one assist, he was involved in more goals than any other Eredivisie player last month (5). He also recorded six shots on target from sixteen attempts, completed nine successful dribbles, and created nine open-play chances. Fans named him KPN Man of the Match in both the Ajax and RKC Waalwijk victories.
First monthly award for Rodríguez
This is Rodríguez’s first Eredivisie Player of the Month award. He joins a select group of FC Utrecht players who have previously received the honour: Zakaria Labyad (November 2017), Adam Maher (October 2019), Taylor Booth (November 2022), and Sam Lammers (April 2024). Rodríguez edged out contenders Igor Paixão (Feyenoord) and teammate Yoann Cathline for the award.

The award was presented by ESPN host Cristian Willaert.
