Jorg Schreuders named Johan Cruyff Talent of the Month for the first time
Jorg Schreuders has been named Johan Cruyff Talent of the Month for the first time in his career. The 19-year-old midfielder from FC Groningen has outperformed all players under 21 since the start of the season.
Schreuders began his youth career at FC Groningen in 2015 and was first included in the senior squad in the 2022/23 season. His breakthrough came a year later, and last season he was even named FC Groningen Player of the Year in the second tier (Keuken Kampioen Divisie).
The 19-year-old playmaker seems to be continuing his impressive form this season. In his first two matches, Schreuders scored two goals and provided one assist. With these two goals, he became the fourth teenager to score for FC Groningen in the first two rounds of the league, following in the footsteps of Ronald Koeman, Leandro Bacuna, and Richairo Živković. His performances also earned him KPN Man of the Match awards in both games.

Cheque prizes for Be Quick 1887 and the Cruyff Foundation
As part of the award, the Johan Cruyff Talent of the Month receives a €2,500 cheque for Be Quick 1887, the Groningen amateur club where Schreuders started his youth career. Additionally, €5,000 will be donated to the Cruyff Foundation to support social projects.
In the monthly election, Jorg Schreuders outperformed Wouter Goes, Rome-Jayden Owusu-Oduro (both from AZ), and Kristian Hlynsson (Ajax). Schreuders is the first FC Groningen player to win a monthly award from the Eredivisie.
About the election
The Eredivisie Player of the Month, Johan Cruyff Talent of the Month, and Eredivisie Team of the Month are selected based on statistics (Opta) and votes from football fans (KPN Man of the Match). These criteria also influence the shortlist for the Eredivisie Player of the Year and Johan Cruyff Talent of the Year. These awards, along with those in the Azerion Women’s Eredivisie, will be presented at the Eredivisie Awards at the end of the season.
