Jordan Bos (Feyenoord) has been named Eredivisie Player of the Month for September. The left-back stood out based on Opta’s performance data.
Strong in defence and attack
Bos has quickly established himself as a key figure in Feyenoord’s back line this season. Since making his Eredivisie debut in Matchweek 2, the 22-year-old Australian has become a regular starter under Robin van Persie.
In September, Bos featured in three matches: victories over Fortuna Sittard (2-0) and FC Groningen (0-1) and a 3-3 draw with AZ. He was rested against Heerenveen (1-0) following a long international flight back from Australia.
Defensively, Bos impressed with two clean sheets, six successful tackles and 16 ball recoveries, ranking third in the league with 25 duels won.
But it was his attacking impact that truly caught the eye. The full-back scored with a strike from outside the box and added an assist. He also created more chances from open play (7) than any other defender, attempted seven shots and completed passes at an accuracy of 88.3%.
First monthly award
This is Bos’s first Player of the Month award. He becomes the eighth Feyenoord player to claim the honour, following Igor Paixão in March this year.

About the awards
The Player of the Month and Johan Cruyff Talent of the Month are decided using Opta data, with more than 60 different statistics taken into account. These same metrics also help determine the Player of the Year and Johan Cruyff Talent of the Year, which are presented at the end of the season during the Eredivisie Awards.
The monthly awards are an initiative of Eredivisie CV in partnership with ESPN, VriendenLoterij and the Johan Cruyff Foundation.
