Eredivisie Awards

Jakob Breum named Johan Cruyff Talent of the Month for February

Jakob Breum has claimed his first individual Eredivisie award. The 21-year-old midfielder from Go Ahead Eagles was named Johan Cruyff Talent of the Month. In February, he was the best-performing player under 21 since the start of the season.

Breum shines in all areas

Jakob Breum is one of the creative forces for Go Ahead Eagles this season. In February, he scored twice – his eighth and ninth Eredivisie goals. Additionally, the Dane created seven chances, registered six shots on target, completed 52 successful passes in the attacking third, and made 19 ball recoveries in four matches. In the 1-0 victory over Sparta Rotterdam, Breum was named KPN Man of the Match.

Unfortunately, Go Ahead Eagles will have to do without the 21-year-old Dane for the time being. Breum suffered a broken foot in the match against Ajax, meaning he will have to watch from the stands in the coming months.

Prize Money for Foundations

As part of his award, Jakob Breum will receive a €2,500 donation from VriendenLoterij for Go Ahead Eagles’ community programs. Additionally, a €5,000 contribution will go to the Johan Cruyff Foundation, supporting social and sports initiatives. Breum beat out competition from Juho Talvitie (Heracles Almelo) and Jorrel Hato (Ajax) to claim the title.

About the awards

The Eredivisie Player of the Month, Johan Cruyff Talent of the Month, and Eredivisie Team of the Month selections are determined based on Opta statistics and fan votes (KPN Man of the Match). These factors also contribute to the end-of-season awards: Eredivisie Player of the Year and Johan Cruyff Talent of the Year, which are presented at the Eredivisie Awards.

The monthly awards are an initiative by Eredivisie CV, in collaboration with ESPN, VriendenLoterij, and the Johan Cruyff Foundation.
