Thursday matches usually tend to yield a lot of goals. Throughout Eredivisie history, only on Sundays were more goals scored per match on average (3.2) than on Thursdays (3.1). However, this is a relatively small difference in absolute numbers because there were fewer Eredivisie matches played on Thursdays than on any other day (232).

Despite the relatively low number of matches, Thursdays have recently produced some noteworthy encounters in the Eredivisie. For instance, in December 2021, Ajax defeated Willem II 5-0, with Antony's opening goal—an absolute screamer into the top corner—standing out for its sheer brilliance. Additionally, in May 2021, Fortuna Sittard and Vitesse drew 3-3 due to a goal from Loïs Openda in the 94th minute, while on the same day, PSV secured a 4-2 victory over PEC Zwolle, partly thanks to a goal from Donyell Malen. The takeaway? If you score on a Thursday in the Eredivisie, there's a good chance you'll be in the Champions League within a few years.

Additionally, Santiago Giménez is on a record-breaking spree: the Mexican has already scored thirty times in the Eredivisie in 2023, chasing the mark set by only two other Feyenoord players who have scored more Eredivisie goals in a calendar year.
