Eredivisie are saddened to learn of the passing of Pim Doesburg (72). The former goalkeeper of Sparta Rotterdam and PSV played 687 games in the Eredivisie, making it the record holder.
The born Rotterdammer played in two periods (1962 to 1967 and 1970 to 1980) a record number of 471 matches for Sparta Rotterdam, the club where he attended the youth academy. In 1966 he won the KNVB cup with Sparta.
The goalkeeper switched to PSV twice, where he was under contract between 1967 and 1970 and between 1980 and 1987, with which he became the Eredivisie champion twice: in 1986 and in 1987.
Doesburg made his debut for the Netherlands in an April 1967 friendly match against Belgium and earned a total of 8 caps. He played one match at the 1980 European Championships versus Greece, coming on as a substitute to replace Piet Schrijvers in the 15th minute of a 1–0 win. His final international game was in February 1981 against Cyprus.
