Eredivisie CV is launching the Eredivisie Shirt Festival on 17 April, with all of the clubs. It’s a tribute to 64 years of Dutch football history, that kicks off with a unique online election, supported by all of the Dutch professional clubs.
A specially developed platform will allow fans to choose from 1,754 shirts that have been worn by clubs in the Eredivisie since 1956. A unique collection that has never been showcased before. A festival of remembrance too, in some respects, as each shirt has a tale to tell or relates back to a memory or anecdote.
Fans can vote for their favourite football shirt until the beginning of May, then the clubs will announce their own ‘best home and away shirt’. A panel, made up of Jan-Joost van Gangelen (FOX Sports), Frank Evenblij (Bureau Sport), Arno Kantelberg (Esquire), Sjoerd Mossou (AD) and Victoria Koblenko (actress/presenter), will choose the best shirt in the history of the Eredivisie on May 8.
Dutch football magazine SANTOS created the Eredivisie Shirt Bible especially for the campaign; a reference book that will be in stores from April 17. The book displays the special designs, club colours, stories and anecdotes from the clubs.
On May 8, the Eredivisie will also organize a special Football Shirt Friday, when everyone in the Netherlands is called uppon to wear their favourite football shirt.
