Eredivisie match calendar for the 2026/27 season confirmed

The Professional Football Competitions Board has confirmed the match calendar for the 2026/27 season. Both the Eredivisie and the Keuken Kampioen Divisie (First Division) will kick off in the weekend of Friday 7 to Sunday 9 August 2026. One week earlier, the Dutch Super Cup will be contested. The final matchday of the Eredivisie is scheduled for Sunday 23 May 2027.

The match calendar was finalised following extensive consultations between the Professional Football Competitions Board (KNVB, Eredivisie CV and Coöperatie Eerste Divisie) and a wide range of stakeholders, including clubs, municipalities, the police, ESPN and the Dutch Supporters’ Collective.

Adjustments

For the first time, the September and October international windows will be combined. This means there will be two consecutive weekends without league matches in the Eredivisie: the final weekend of September and the first weekend of October. There will also be a minor adjustment to the period structure in the First Division. Periods 1 and 4 will each consist of 10 matches, while Periods 2 and 3 will consist of 9 matches.

Super Cup

The Johan Cruyff Shield, the match between the Eredivisie champions and the winners of the KNVB Cup, is scheduled for Friday 31 July or Sunday 2 August 2026. The final date will be confirmed based on the European commitments of the participating clubs.

KNVB Cup

For professional clubs, the KNVB Cup will begin in the week from Tuesday 27 October to Thursday 29 October 2026. Clubs that qualify for European competition in the 2025/26 season will be exempt from the first round and will enter the tournament in the second round. The KNVB Cup Final will be played on Sunday 18 April 2027 at De Kuip in Rotterdam.

Winter break

The winter break for the Eredivisie will begin after Sunday 20 December 2026. For the Keuken Kampioen Divisie, the winter break will start after Monday 21 December 2026. The second half of the season will kick off for both divisions on Friday 8 January 2027.

End of the competitions

The final matchday of the Eredivisie will be played on Sunday 23 May 2027. The First Division season will conclude on Friday 14 May 2027.
