Cody Gakpo is the Eredivisie Player of the Month for the second month running

In a month when every premier league club lost points, it was the individuals in particular who made the big difference. PSV had a shaky month with losses against SC Cambuur (3-0) and FC Groningen (4-2), while sc Heerenveen (0-1), FC Utrecht (6-1) and N.E.C. Nijmegen (3-0) were easily swept aside. Despite these sports results, Cody Gakpo can look back on a fine month ahead of the World Cup in Qatar. Indeed, in the majority of attacking statistics, the Eindhoven native's name is at the top of the lists.

The Oranje international was involved in six Eredivisie goals in October, the highest number of any player in the Eredivisie. Five of them were assists, at least two more than the rest. Gakpo also created the most chances last month (23, at least five more than his pursuers), delivered the most successful crosses (21, at least seven more) and made the most successful dribbles (16, at least five more). Only Brian Brobbey, the Johan Cruijff Talent of the Month, had more goal attempts (11) than the PSV forward (8).

It earned Gakpo being crowned KPN Man of the Match twice and again, as in September, the Eredivisie Player of the Month award. It is the third time a player has won the monthly award in a row: previously, only Orkun Kökcü (February and March 2022) and Oussama Idrissi (January and February 2020) managed to do so. In addition to an award, the PSV player will receive an upgraded Eredivisie Player of the Month card in FIFA 23 Ultimate Team.
