Antony named Eredivisie Player of the Month
On Thursday, Antony was named Player of the Month by the Eredivisie. The Ajax forward was the best-performing player in December according to the statistics.
In a less successful month for Ajax, with a home defeat against FC Twente (1-2) and a draw as the visiting team against Willem II (1-1), Antony stood out as a shining star. The young Brazilian was directly involved in 6 goals.
In addition to his involvement in the goals (2 goals, 4 assists), Antony attracted positive attention thanks to 10 created chances, 6 successful dribbles and no less than 7 tackles. Thanks to this performance, Antony leaves Teun Koopmeiners (AZ) and Nick Marsman (Feyenoord) close behind him.
Antony is the eighth Ajax player named Player of the Month, an honour that has been awarded by the Eredivisie and ESPN since September 2017.

WIJNDAL IS U21 PLAYER OF THE MONTH FOR THE 4TH TIME
Owen Wijndal keeps impressing at AZ. Thanks to his performance in December, he clinched his second consecutive U21 title and his fourth overall.
In December, Wijndal gained recognition by winning the most individual duels of all defenders in the Eredivisie, 30 in total. The Dutch international player also delivered an excellent performance with 2 assists, 7 created chances and a passing accuracy of 86%. Wijndal appeared in five Eredivisie matches in December.
U21 Player of the Month is only awarded to players who are 21 or younger at the start of the season. The player from Zaandam celebrated his 21st birthday at the end of November and started his fifth season in the Eredivisie this year.

AJAX PROVIDES MOST PLAYERS IN TEAM OF THE MONTH
With four players, Ajax has provided the most players for the Team of the Month. This is the first Team of the Month nomination for all four of the Ajax players. After Ajax comes AZ with two players, while PSV, Fortuna Sittard, Feyenoord, Sparta Rotterdam and FC Emmen all only provided one player. Araujo’s nomination is notable: the central defender of bottom-of-the-table FC Emmen scored twice in December.
