Ajax have reached an agreement for the loan of Brian Brobbey from RB Leipzig where he is currently under contract. The loan has a duration of half a season, until June 30, 2022. Brobbey (Amsterdam, February 1, 2002) is a graduate of Ajax's youth academy, having joined in 2010 and left for the Bundesliga on a free transfer last summer.
On October 31, 2020, he made his debut for the Ajax first team during the match between Ajax – Fortuna Sittard (5-2). Before his departure, he played 19 times for the Ajax first team, scoring six times.
The 19-year-old attacker often played for Young Ajax in the past season. He played 29 matches for the reserves and scored 16 goals. As a youth international of the Dutch U17 team, he won the European champion in 2018 and 2019.
Director of Football Affairs Marc Overmars on Ajax.nl: "Brian knows the club and knows what is being asked of him here. For us, it was important that there was an extra attacker who would be immediately available and he offers that. We are still playing on three fronts and we will need every player badly."
